to patey
If you want perfect headwear for the season, then
Patey is a name synonymous with British tradition
A
leading manufacturer and purveyor of
hand-crafted headwear, Patey’s hat shop is
located in the sophisticated retail and residential
district of Connaught Village, close to Hyde Park.
With a royal warrant and a heritage dating
back 200 years, Patey still uses the same millinery
techniques as it did when it started in 1799.
Headed up by a former James Lock & Co
employee, Patrick Lamb, Patey offers friendly
advice on choosing a hat to suit you, as well as
an expert fitting service.
Manufacturing 5,000 bespoke hats a year, Patey’s
customers have included members of the Royal
Household, Tom Cruise, who had hats made for
his role in the WWII film Valkyrie, and the cast
members of several James Bond films.
Patey’s ready-to-wear, men's Town and Country
collection includes fine felt, trilby, fedora and hand
woven panama hats, and tweed and cashmere caps.
If you would prefer something bespoke, the process
will take up to four weeks.
As the summer season approaches, demand grows
for Patey’s collection of vintage, renovated silk top
hats, principally from discerning Ascot goers. Top hats
here can cost anything from £600 to £2,500.
And if your beloved silk topper is starting to show
signs of wear and tear, Patey offers a refurbishment
and repair service. This could involve anything from
replacing the trims and binding on the hat, to a total
rebuild, which could cost up to £250.
For ladies, Patey’s millinery service will provide the
perfect hat for a day at the races or for any other social
engagement, all year around.
Patey also accepts orders made through its website.
