It IS About this time of year that pavement cafés,
green salads and ice-cold whites begin to lose their
appeal. As the nights draw in and a chill descends over
the streets of Marylebone, we start to target the cosy,
romantically-lit restaurants, specialising in saucy dishes
and warming reds. As luck would have it, there are
plenty of these in the area, too.
With winter drawing ever closer, the urge for a
tasty Indian gets ever greater. one of the best Indian
restaurants in London is trishna, which is on blandford
Street in the heart of Marylebone village. Head Chef,
Karam Sethi, has recently been awarded a Michelin
star and his menu of sharing plates is a contemporary
take on traditional coastal classics – all prepared with
seasonal ingredients. typical dishes include Koliwada
Shrimp with Carom Seed, Ginger, Garlic and Sweet Red
Chilli Chutney, and Guinea Fowl tikka with Fennel Seed,
Star Anise and Masoor Lentils. the wine list is equally
impressive, with more than 200 bins from a selection of
niche producers and boutique wineries.
If Chinese appeals more, there are plenty of options
but bright Courtyard Club particularly pleases – and not
just because of its all-day Champagne and Cocktail bar.
