Part of
Sir Richard Branson's
privately owned collection
of luxury retreats, Babylon
Restaurant at The Roof Gardens
is clearly one of Kensington's
key assets.
Elevated 100ft above street
level – on top of the former
Derry and Toms building on
Kensington High Street – this
stylish restaurant offers such
superb vistas, the food needs
to be exceptional to command
your attention.
The Head Chef, Ian Howard,
previously of the Savoy, the
Belvedere (under Marco Pierre
White), The Cumberland (under
Gary Rhodes) and Marylebone's
prestigious Landmark, offers an
authentic, seasonal menu that
reflects his long-term enthusiasm
for contemporary British cuisine.
In the summer months, the
rooftop restaurant offers balmy
barbecues and al fresco dining
on the seventh-floor terrace,
while on Thursday evenings,
diners can enjoy live jazz during
their meal.
On Sundays, for parties of six
or more, the eaterie provides a
lunchtime 'sharing menu', which
includes a traditional roast.
Babylon also offers a special
Young Diner's menu.
